BOOKS & SHOWS

reading

When I was a young girl, each week, my parents would borrow a bagful of books from the library. My sister and I would sit on these large beanbags in our family room while either Mum or Dad would read to us. These books mostly included faerie picture books from authors and illustrators such as Shirley Barber (if you haven’t seen her you must google her). I don’t know what changed but I didn’t read in middle school unless I had to read something for English. When I turned 15, I was introduced to two different books; ‘Romeo and Juliet’ and ‘Marked’ and these sparked my love for reading (and I joined the modern craze of vampire obsession). Since then I have read many books and am continuing to branch out and read new genres.

Due to the difficulty of reading a book while eating, I find myself watching a lot of television. Oh boy, am I in the right time for TV. I would have to say a huge thanks to ‘Breaking Bad’ for setting the standard so high for television shows, allowing the audience to reap the rewards of great shows after great shows. I love all types of television series (fantasy, sci-fi, drama, comedies, anime and even dystopian fiction!) and let me tell you – I know some good ones.

So join me on my journey of reading through the classics, the popular and the lesser known novels as well as watching ACTUALLY GOOD TV and see what you have been missing out on.
